456 – I Love Chocolate我爱巧克力

Wen-J, before coming into the studio, did you smell something good coming from the kitchen?

马可大哥进录音室前闻到厨房传出好味道

It smells like ”hot chocolate”.

            Hot chocolate!  哦，原来他闻到热可可的味道

I love hot chocolate.’

            他很爱喝热可可

Especially when the weather is cold, and the temperature is freezing,

            当天候严寒，气温很低时

There’s nothing like a nice cup of hot chocolate.

            没有什么能比一杯热可可饮料来得更好的了  Mmm…I can tell…You love     chocolate.

Well, how did you guess it?

            看得出，他爱吃巧克力

Chocolate cake, (好像，巧克力蛋糕)，chocolate ice cream, (巧克力冰淇淋)，chocolate candy bars, (巧克力糖果)  I love everything chocolate.  (所有巧克力的东西他都爱)  Oh, my, my, my--

Well, I admit it.   I am a chocoholic.

            马可大哥是个对巧克力上了瘾的人a chocoholic.

 

 

Fun With the Idioms　趣味谚语   “A day without chocolate is a day without sunshine.” 「没有巧克力的一天，就是没有阳光的一天」  “Chemically speaking, chocolate really is the world’s perfect food.” 「从化学的角度来说，巧克力是世界上最完美的食物。」 “I could give up chocolate but I’m not a quitter.” 「我可以放弃不吃巧克力，但是我可不是个轻言放弃的人。」

 

Mark, the word chocolate is hard to spell. 巧克力英文不容易拼

It is spelled,  C-H-O-C-O-L-A-T-E. Chocolate. How do you say it in Chinese?

            Qiao-ke-li.

Qiao-ke-li.  It sounds just like chocolate.

            That’s right.

Wen-J, I’m sure it’s every child’s dream to visit a candy factory.

            相信每个孩子都梦想能够拜访糖果工厂，

And get a chance to taste all kinds of sweets.

而且亲口去尝尝每种的糖

You know, every kid in America knows every kind of chocolate candy bar.

Like Milky Ways, Snickers, Mars, Kit Kat , M & M ,and Hershey bars, etc...

It’s almost like they are in chocolate paradise.

Story of Hershey贺喜巧克力糖的故事   Milton Hershey was a candy manufacturer in Pennsylvania.   Milton Hershey是一位住在宾州的糖果制造商 In 1894, he decided to produce sweet chocolate.   1894年他决定要出产巧克力糖 Now Hershey’s products are well known all over the world.   如今Hershey公司的产品已经全球知名 Hershey Kisses, produced in 1907, have been sold  for over 100 years.   1907年制造出来的Hershey锥型巧克力糖，至今上市已经超过一百年了 Satisfying the sweet tooth of many generations.   它可是甜了好几代人的嘴巴呢！

           

Well, Next is today’s Everyday Dialogue.

A couple is talking with each other.

             一对夫妇在对谈

It’s a few hours after dinner.

            这时已经晚饭吃过几小时了

And the husband is looking for something to eat.

            作丈夫的在找点心吃

And he is getting frustrated.

            他感到非常的沮丧

Let’s find out why.

*Dialogue

 

H: Honey, where are the chocolate chip cookies?

W: Chocolate chip cookies?  You ate them all. There’s nothing left.

H:  Don’t tell me that. Where did you hide them?

W: I didn’t hide them.  They are all gone.

H: There has to be some chocolate chip cookies in the house somewhere.

W: I’m sorry.  There aren’t any.  You told me not to buy them any more.

H: Oh, Really?  Well, why did you listen to me?

Chocolate chip cookies?  You ate them all. There’s nothing left.

I didn’t hide them.  They are all gone.

There has to be some chocolate chip cookies in the house somewhere.

I’m sorry. There aren’t any.  You told me not to buy them any more.

Oh, Really?  Well, why did you listen to me?

Wen-J, years ago, only the rich and the famous got to eat chocolate.

            多年前，只有富有的人和高地位的人才吃得起巧克力

I am neither rich nor famous.

            马可大哥既不富有，也没有高地位

But I can enjoy all the chocolate I want now.

            但是他现今可以享受各式各样的巧克力产品

But you have to be careful. Gaining weight can be a result of that.

            当然了，他的体重上升也跟巧克力有关了

Any way, Let’s review the couple’s dialogue once again.

The Origin of Chocolate 巧克力的由来   Chocolate is made from the tropical tree Theobroma cacao.   （巧克力是从一种热带植物Theobroma的可可豆而来的） In the Fifteenth century, the Aztecs used cacao beans to make a hot and bitter drink.    （在十五世纪时，阿兹特克原始居民用可可豆来作一种有苦味道的热饮料） Later on, milk, cocoa powder and cocoa butter was added into the drink.   （后来人把牛奶，可可粉，和可可奶油加入这个苦味道的饮料） And in 1876, chocolate was born.   （ 巧克力在1876年终于诞生了）

 

            Mark, chocolates are very high in fat. 巧克力是高脂肪产品

That’s true.  Chocolate does have a lot of calories.

            巧克力含有许多卡路里

On the other hand, it also has some health benefits. 

            但是巧克力对健康也有益处

It contains vitamins and minerals.

            它含有维他命和矿物质

And it can help lower the risk of heart disease.

            它能减低心脏疾病的产生

And chocolate can help change a person’s mood.

            巧克力更可以改变人的情绪  How?

It can affect your feelings and behavior by making you happy.

            它能够影响一个人的感受和行为，让你变得快乐 Wow!

Do I need to say more about chocolate?

            No. I get the idea.

Verse For Life  生命经文  “Taste and see that the LORD is good; 「你们要尝尝主恩的滋味、便知道他是美善． Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.” 投靠他的人有福了。」   Psalm 34:8  诗篇

 

The Bible says we have to taste God.

            圣经里说，我们要尝尝主的滋味

That means we have to experience Him in our lives.

            这表示我们要在生命里经历神

Like if we hear about chocolate, but never taste it, we don’t really know how good it is.

            就好比我们听到巧克力多好多好，但若从没尝过，我们就不知道它好在哪里

So, there’s a difference. Hearing about chocolate and actually tasting it.

            只是听说，和真正尝到巧克力是很不同的

In the same way, we may have heard about God, but we need to go on to personally experience God’s wonderful grace.

            同样的，我们可能听说有神，但我们需要进一步亲自去体验神奇妙的恩典

And anyone can experience God, the rich and famous…

            而每个人都能体验神，富有的、有名望的人…

Even the poor and the forgotten can experience God.

            既使是贫穷的, 被人忽视的那些人,也都能体验神

And those who do experience God know that He is good!

            而那些生命里经历过神的人，都知道他是美善的
