EW 451 – Going to the Concert 去音乐会

Wen-Jie, how was your weekend?

Oh, it was great.  I went to a recital. A violin recital. 我周末时去听了一场小提琴独奏会

A Violin Recital.  Who was the performer?

She is my Sunday School student Min. 弹琴的是我主日学的学生

Min is only 6 years old. 她才六岁大。

That must be very special.

Oh, She is amazing.  She played some difficult pieces.她弹了一些高难度的曲目

Wow!

And she didn’t seem to be nervous at all.  而且她看来一点也不紧张

Well, She sounds like a future star to me.

我也认为她将会是一颗闪亮的明日之星  I am so proud of her. 我为她感到很骄傲

This reminds me of my daughter Kristi.

            Really? 马可想起了他的女儿Kristi.

As you know, Kristi was a Music major when she was at school.

            原来他的女儿是修读音乐系的 

She plays the flute.

            他女儿主修横笛演奏

Throughout the years, I have attended many of her concerts.

多年来，女儿一有演奏会马可总是不缺席  So, there’s a star in your home. 他家也出了个明日之星呢

Well, I don’t know whether she’s a star or not, but I am proud of her.

            他可是很以女儿为荣

Mark, What kind of concerts do you go to?

I have been to many Symphony concerts. 

他听了不少交响乐团演奏For me, I remembered going to hear the opera once.

我则曾经去听过一回歌剧演唱,

Was it boring?

Not at all.  “Madam Butterfly” was really great. ”蝴蝶夫人” 歌剧好精彩

It is a very well-known opera.

But most of the time I go to pop concerts. 我通常还是听流行英乐会多些 

Did you know our producer Josh went to a big concert last weekend?

            I did hear about that. 我们制作人Josh上周末去听了一场大型流行音乐会

Have you heard of Elton John and Billy Joel?

            Of course. Elton John, Billy Joel 这两位是举世闻名的

And Josh got to see them live in the concert.

A day in the life of Josh – calling &  sound effect 

 

            I’ve seen Elton John twice before, but never in quite this atmosphere.  Wrigley Field.  Elton John and Billy Joel.  Forty Five Thousand people screaming and singing along to two Musical Icons.  Ever been to a concert where everyone knows all the lyrics to every song?  It’s pretty awesome….Like really awesome. 

我曾经在以前的音乐会见过Elton John两次，但是从没有像这次的那种大场面。Wrigley球场。Elton John和Billy Joel。四万五千人跟着这两位音乐界的偶像又叫又唱的。你曾否去过这样的一个音乐会，在那儿每个人都熟知每首歌的歌词吗？那可是非常惊人的，非常非常的不得了的。

                        There is nothing better than great classic rock music, and what better than two dueling piano’s singing songs that everyone knows and loves.  Elton John and songs like, “Hold ne closer, Tiny Dancer”.  Billy Joel and songs like, “Sing us a song, you’re the Piano Man” and “Uptown Girl”. 

没有什么能够比古典摇滚乐更棒的了。再说，两个旗鼓相当的钢琴，弹奏唱出每个人都知道也都爱的歌曲。Elton John和他著名的歌，像Tiny Dancer轻巧的舞者. ；以及Billy Joel和他的歌, 像 Piano Man钢琴弹奏者. 还有，Uptown Girl城市女孩

The Concert started with the both of them playing together.  All of a sudden, Wrigley Field was not just a place for baseball, it became the biggest party you would ever see on a Tuesday night. .Just put your arm around the person next to you, rock back and forth, and sing your heart out on every song they play for the next three and a half hours.

音乐会一开始，就是他们两人一起弹奏。剎那间，Wrigley球场不单只是一个打棒球的地方，在星期二这天晚上，它变成一场最大的欢庆会之所在。只要把你的手臂环绕坐在你旁边的邻居，随韵律来回的摆动，大声使劲的唱每一首歌，唱它个三个半小时看看。

Both Elton John and Billy Joel have different styles on how they entertain people, but are both equally as effective.  Billy Joel will have the audience more involved with his act, whereas Elton John just simply amazes the audience with his unbelievable ability on the piano. 

他们两位，Elton John, Billy Joel都有他们娱乐群众的不同方法，但都同样的有效果。Billy Joel喜欢请观众参与，和他对唱，而 Elton John则以他那了不起的弹琴技巧让观众如痴如迷。

            Just close your eyes and imagine greatness.  The extended piano solos, the inspiring lyrics, sharing your love of the music with 45,000 people.  Man, I love the Classics！

David, who wrote this poem calls out for all to join him.

            写诗的大卫呼召每个人来加入他

To praise God, the creator of everything.

            和他一同来赞美那位创造天地一切的主

To offer thanks and adoration.

            向神献上感恩和崇敬

Using all kinds of instruments.

            用各样的乐器来赞美神

And Praise God with all our beings.

            以我们的全人来赞美神

And this will be a grand concert where all of God’s creation and al of God’s creatures will join in praising God.

            神所有的创造物，所有的活物都同在一个盛大的音乐会里来赞美神

We offer our voices and our musical talents

To the one and only Holy God.
