EW 456 – I Love Chocolate我爱朱古力

Cheung Yun, before coming into the studio, did you smell something good coming from the kitchen?

你说进录音室前闻到厨房传出好味道.  No, I did not.

It smells like ”hot chocolate”.

            Hot chocolate!  哦，原来你闻到热朱古力的味道

I love hot chocolate.’

            你很爱喝热热朱古力

Especially when the weather is cold, and the temperature is freezing,

            尤其当天候严寒，气温很低时

There’s nothing like a nice cup of hot chocolate.

            没有什么能比一杯热朱古力来得更好的了  I can tell…You love           chocolate.

Well, how did you guess it?

我怎样估到你很喜欢朱古力. Well, it is not hard to guess.  Just look at your exciting face when you talk about chocolate. 不太难估吧, 看你谈到朱古力时那个兴奋的样子便是了.

Oh, I also love chocolate cake, (你喜爱朱古力蛋糕)，chocolate ice cream, (朱古力冰淇淋)，chocolate candy bars, (朱古力糖).

Anything with chocolate I love. 

你爱所有朱古力的东西  

Well, I admit it.   I am a chocoholic.

            马可大哥你是个对朱古力上了瘾的人a chocoholic.

 

 

Fun With the Idioms　趣味谚语   “A day without chocolate is a day without sunshine.” 「没有朱古力的一天，就是没有阳光的一天」    “Chemically speaking, chocolate really is the world’s perfect food.” 「从化学的角度来说，朱古力是世界上最完美的食物。」   “I could give up chocolate but I’m not a quitter.” 「我可以放弃不吃朱古力，但是我可不是个轻言放弃的人。」

 

I’m sure it’s every child’s dream to visit a chocolate factory.

The Story of Hershey贺喜朱古力的故事   Milton Hershey was a candy manufacturer in Pennsylvania.   Milton Hershey是一位住在宾夕凡尼亚州的糖果制造商 In 1894, he decided to produce sweet chocolate.   1894年他决定要出产朱古力糖 Now Hershey’s products are well known all over the world.   如今Hershey公司的产品已经全球知名 Hershey Kisses, produced in 1907, have been sold  for over 100 years.   1907年制造出来的Hershey锥型朱古力糖，至今上市已经超过一百年了 Satisfying the sweet tooth of many generations.   它可是甜了好几代人的嘴巴呢！

A couple is talking with each other.

             一对夫妇在对谈

It’s a few hours after dinner.

            这时已经晚饭吃过几小时了

And the husband is looking for something to eat.

            作丈夫的在找点东西吃

And he is getting frustrated.

            他感到非常的沮丧

Let’s find out why.

*Dialogue

 

H: Honey, where are the chocolate chip cookies?

W: Chocolate chip cookies?  You ate them all. There’s nothing left.

H:  Don’t tell me that. Where did you hide them?

W: I didn’t hide them.  They are all gone.

H: There has to be some chocolate chip cookies in the house somewhere.

W: I’m sorry.  There aren’t any.  You told me not to buy them any more.

H: Oh, Really?  Well, why did you listen to me?

Honey, where are the chocolate chip cookies?

老婆，朱古力曲奇饼放在哪儿？

Chocolate chip cookies?  You ate them all. There’s nothing left.

Don’t tell me that.  Where did you hide them?

不要这么说。你把曲奇饼藏在哪儿？

I didn’t hide them.  They are all gone.

我没有藏。真的全被吃光了。

There has to be some chocolate chip cookies in the house somewhere.

家里的某个地方，一定有朱古力曲奇饼

I’m sorry. There aren’t any.  You told me not to buy them any more.

很对不起，真的没有。是你叫我不要再买朱古力曲奇饼了

Oh, really?  Well, why did you listen to me?

真的吗？ 唉呀，谁叫你这么听我的话呢？

I have to confess that I am much like the husband in the dialogue.

你说你很像以上会话的丈夫?  So you mean you told Judy not to buy chocolate cookies and then you asked her if there was any chocolate cookies? 你是否说你请妻子不要再买朱古力曲奇饼,但之后你又问她家里又没有朱古力曲奇饼?

Not quite… because what I asked was not but…

…but the chocolate ice cream, right?  不过你要求的不是曲奇饼,而是朱古力雪糕.

I think you know me too well.

Sure.  But no matter it is cookies or ice cream, it is still the chocolate that you care the most.  但无论是曲奇饼或雪糕, 总之你就是喜欢朱古力啦.

It truly is the chocolate I care the most. And you know what?  Many years ago, only the rich and the famous got to eat chocolate.

            在许多年前，只有富有的人和高地位的人才吃得起朱古力

I am neither rich nor famous.

            马可大哥你既不富有，也没有高地位

But I can enjoy all the chocolate I want now.

            但是你现今可以享受各式各样的朱古力产品

But you have to be careful. Gaining weight can be a result of that.

            食朱古力也要小心，因它会令你的体重上升的.

Any way, Let’s review the couple’s dialogue once again.

W: Chocolate chip cookies?  You ate them all. There’s nothing left.

            Chocolates are very high in fat. 朱古力是高脂肪产品

That’s true.  Chocolate does have a lot of calories.

            朱古力含有许多卡路里

On the other hand, it also has some health benefits. 

            但是朱古力对健康也有益处

It contains vitamins and minerals.

            它含有维他命和矿物质

And it can help lower the risk of heart disease.

            它能减低心脏疾病的产生

Best of all, chocolate can help change a person’s mood.

            朱古力更可以改变人的情绪  How?

It can affect your feelings and behavior by making you feel happy.

            它能够影响一个人的感受和行为，让你变得快乐. Wow!

Do I need to say more about chocolate?

            No. I think I can get the idea.

 

Verse For Life  生命经文  “Taste and see that the LORD is good; 「你们要尝尝主恩的滋味、便知道他是美善． Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.” 投靠他的人有福了。」   Psalm 34:8  诗篇

 

The Bible says we have to taste God.

            圣经里说，我们要尝尝主的滋味

That means we have to experience Him in our lives.

            这表示我们要在生命里经历神

Just like when we hear about chocolate, but never taste it, we don’t really know how good it is.

            就好比我们听到朱古力多好多好，但若从没尝过，我们就不知道它好在哪里

So, there’s a difference. Hearing about chocolate and actually tasting it.

            只是听说，和真正尝到朱古力是很不同的

In the same way, we may have heard about God, but we need to go on to personally experience God’s wonderful grace.

            同样的，我们可能听说有神，但我们需要进一步亲自去体验神奇妙的恩典

And God’s grace for everyone, the rich and famous…

            而每个人都能体验神，富有的、有名望的人…

Even the poor and the forgotten can experience God.

            既使是贫穷的, 被人忽视的那些人,也都能体验神

And those who experience his grace know that God is good!

            而那些生命里经历过神的人，都知道祂是美善的
