AND of course, get together with family and loved one.

But let’s not forget the most important part of Christmas…

The birth of Son of God Jesus Christ.

        是圣子耶稣基督的诞生

On our last program we introduced a Christmas carol.

        上回节目里，我们介绍了一首圣诞诗歌。 “Silent Night” 平安夜

This song is probably the most famous one.

        这首歌是最著名的一首圣诞诗歌

And is sung in many major languages of the world.

        被翻唱成全球许多种的语言

Well, today we want to introduce another popular carol.

今天我们想介绍另一首流行的圣诞诗歌

I learned this song when I was a child. 

        马可大哥在童年时就学唱这首歌的Really? Which one is it?

The title is: Away In A Manger.

歌名是: 远远在马槽里 I know this song, and I love the melody.

This song is known as a children’s carol.

        这首歌，被公认是一首儿童圣诞诗歌

Children love to sing it.

        许多孩童喜爱唱这首歌

It has a pleasing melody,

        它有悦耳的旋律

A gentle message

        有温暖人心的内容

And it appeals to people of all ages.

        各个年龄阶层的人都爱听爱唱这首歌

This song says: Away in a manger, no crib for a bed.

        歌词说到，远远在马槽里，无枕也无床, crib是小婴孩的床

The little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head

        小小的主耶稣，躺着睡觉很安详

The word “Manger” is a long open wood box in a stable.

        Manger是马棚里一个长方形的木槽

From which horses or cattle can feed.

        是喂马或牛吃东西的槽

That’s where baby Jesus was lying.

        那是婴孩耶稣躺卧的地方

Die you notice the rhyme of “bed” with “head”?

        你有否注意到句子最后的 bed床, head头是押韵的?

The stars in the bright sky looked down where He lay,

        众星都照耀着主安睡地方

The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.

      小小的主耶稣，睡在干草上

Once again we hear the rhymes at the end : “lay” and “hay”.

        请注意到字尾的押韵，lay躺卧　hay稻草

No one really knows who wrote this song.

        没有人确实知道这首歌是谁写的

It first appeared in a children’s songbook in the late 19^th century.

        19世纪时，这首歌就被收录在孩童诗歌本里

It has a simple expression of love for Jesus.

        这首歌有着对耶稣的单纯的爱

And a trust in His faithful care.

        还有对耶稣的看顾存信靠的心

No wonder it’s a popular hymn after all these years.

        难怪 多少年下来，它仍是一首受人欢迎的诗歌

Let’s hear the second verse.

The second verse says,

The cattle are lowing, the Baby awakes

        众牲畜呜呜叫，圣婴忽惊醒

But little Lord Jesus no crying He makes.

        小小的主耶稣却无啼哭声

Here, the word low, means the deep sound made by cattle.

        这儿的low这个字，指的是牛发出的声音

lowing, and crying, awakes and makes.

        lowing相对于crying; awakes又相对于makes

These are all rhymes.

        这几个字又有了押韵的韵味

I love Thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky,

        主耶稣我爱你，求靠近我旁

And stay by my cradle till morning is nigh

坐在我小床边，看守到天亮

Nigh is an old word meaning near.

        Nigh是古字，意思是靠近

Cheung Yun, did you hear the rhyming in this phrase?

        Yes. sky and nigh . 这两个字押韵

The Lord Jesus is God’s only son.

He was born of a woman.

        祂由女子所生

And He was born in a lowly manger.

        且降生在卑微的马槽里

This shows how Jesus humbled himself,

这表明了耶稣如何谦卑自己       

And became poor for our sake.

        为我们成为贫穷

So that we can be rich in God.

        好使我们在神里面得以富足

A manger is the place where Jesus, our Savior, was born.

        马槽，乃是我们的救主诞生的地方
