EW146 Friend (ii)

Ni-Hao, this is Mark. Once again welcome to our program.

We are your on-the-air friends.

On our last program we talked about being friends.

We said it’s like playing Ping-Pong.

One hits the ball over, and the other returns the ball back to you.

Coming and going, back and forth.

That’s what being friends is about.

As your friend, we want you to write us or e-mail us.

We would love to hear from you.

------------------------------

Xxx, how long have we been friends?

           About 3 years.

That’s not a very long time.

For sure. Would you like to make it longer?

Sure, but only “time” can strech the length of the friendship.

But friendship can always be built deeper no matter what.

           That’s very true.

Following is our “Everyday Dialogue”.

Let’s review the “Everyday Dialogue” once again.

A: I can’t thank you enough.

B: Don’t mention it.

A: I don’t know what I would do without you.

B: I‘m glad I can be of some help.

A: What a friend you are. You are truly my good buddy.

-----------------

Xxx, do you think it’s hard to find a good friend?

but Mark, I guess the question should be the other way around.

What do you mean?

I mean we should ask:” How can I be a good friend to other people?”

You know what? You are right. Have you heard of the story of the Good Samaritan?

Jesus uses the story to talk about what is a good neighbor.

One time, a man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho,

He came into the hands of robbers.

They stripped him of his clothes,

Beat him and left, leaving him half dead.

A well respected religious teacher happened to be going down the same road,

And when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side.

Later, another religious leader came from his country to the place,

When he saw that man, he passed by on the other side.

Finally, a foreigner from Samaria came along.

He saw the wounded man, took pity on him.

The Samaritan bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine.

Then he put the man on his donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him.

The next day, he gave money to the innkeeper, asked the innkeeper to look after the man.

He promised that when he returned, he would reimburse the extra expense.

Mark, was this Samaritan an old friend of the man?

No, he was a total stranger and didn’t know the injured man at all.

In fact, during that time, Jewish people and Samaritans did not associate with each other.

But this good Samaritan disregarded the differences.

He responded to the need of this man.

And even went an extra mile to take care of the wounded man.

Jesus says this Samaritan was a good neighbor to that wounded man.

Verse of the Week

Jesus answered,

“The most important commandment is this:诫命中第一要紧的就是,

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul

And with all your mind and with all your strength.

The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Because we have the love of Christ inside us.

We should respond to the needy people around us.

Be a good neighbor to them.

And become a friend in need.

Thanks neighbor.
