The Story of the Candy Cane柺杖糖的由来   At around 1900, a candymaker in Indiana wanted to make a candy to be a witness of Christ’s love. 大約在1900年，住在印第安那州一位制造糖果的人，想要作一种糖果来见证基督的爱。 The result was the candy cane. 结果他做出了柺杖糖。   First, he used a stick of pure white hard candy. 首先，他用一根白色的硬糖果。 White symbolizing the sinless nature of Jesus. 白色象征了耶稣的纯洁无罪。 Hard to symbolize Christ is the Solid Rock. 硬糖果象征了基督是坚固磐石。   He shaped it like a J, representing the name of Jesus. 他把糖果做成像英文字母J，代表了耶稣Jesus的名字。 The shape also resembles a shepherd’s staff. 柺杖糖樣子也像牧羊人手中的杖。     Then, He added the red stripe. 然后，他把红色的条纹加进去。 Red represents the blood of Christ shed for our sins. 红色代表了基督为我们的罪流下宝血。 Stripes to remind us of the beating Jesus endured. 条纹提醒我们他所受的鞭伤。   And he chose the flavor peppermint , which is similar to the flavor of Hyssop in the Old Testament. 他选了薄荷味作柺杖糖的味道，这和旧約裡用来洁淨的牛膝草味道相似。

 

 

Wow, I never realize a tiny candy cane has so many meaningful symbols. 小小柺杖糖原来含有这麼多的象征意义, 真令人料想不到。

Isn’t that amazing? Candy Canes reminds us Jesus is the Rock of all ages.

柺杖糖提醒我们耶稣是万古磐石。

He is our Savior, our Shepard, and our Lord.               

他是我们的救主，我们的大牧者，我们的主。

Nowadays people add a green stripe as a reminder that Jesus is a Gift from God.

如今有人更在柺杖糖上加綠色条纹，提醒我们耶稣是神赐的礼物。

So, when you eat the candy cane, don’t forget to give thanks to God.
