W: New Years is coming up, dear. I want to celebrate it.
H: Sure. How?
W: Let’s go out to eat on New Year’s Eve.
H: Mmm, the restaurants will be too crowded.
W: Then let’s watch the celebration on TV.
H: You mean at midnight? It’s kind of late to stay up.
W: But that’s when the New year begins. Of course we have to stay up till midnight!
H: We could tape it and watch it the next day.
W: Nobody celebrates New Years a day late!
H: Mmm, I see your point. I know! We still have a videotape of last year’s new years.
W: So?
H: We can watch it again while we eat an early dinner at home.
W: Oh, you are hopeless!
------------------------------------------------------------------
New Years is coming up, dear. We should celebrate.
Sure. How?
Let’s go out to eat on New Year’s Eve.
Mmm, The restaurants will be too crowded.
Then let’s watch the celebration on TV.
You mean at midnight? It’s kind of late to stay up.
But that’s when the new year begins. Of course we have to stay up till midnight!
We could tape it and watch it the next day.
No body celebrate New Year a day late.
Mmm, I see your point. I know! We still have a videotape of last year’s new years.
We can watch it again while we eat an early dinner at home.
Oh, you are hopeless.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cheung Yun, do you like to stay up for New Year’s Eve?
I try to. But I’m not always successful.
Last year, I went down to the city to watch the fireworks.
That must be exciting.
Yes. To watch it live is better than watching it on TV.
Well, let’s review the Everyday Dialogue once again.

Talking about celebrations, I remember a story Jesus told.
A young son took his share of the family money and left home.
He spent all his money on wild living.
When this son finally became poor and desperate,
He decided to return to his father and apologize.
His father did not scold him, but instead hugged him.
And the father received him back as a son again.
Why did the father do so?
Let’s hear today’s verse of the week.

The Father said to the servant: 父亲对仆人說﹕ Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again. He was lost and is found.
In this story the father represents God.
And we are like the young son who leaves home.
We choose to go our own ways.
But no matter what we have done wrong,
If we turn back to God,
God still welcomes us with open arms.
Jesus says, there will be rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents.
That is to say, Our heavenly Father is having a big celebration when we turn back to Him.
Well, our time is almost up.
We would love to hear from you.
Share with us something you are joyful about.
We want to celebrate with you.
Don’t forget, tune in again next time for English World.
We’ll see you then.
Zai-Jian.
