What did you do last weekend, Cheung Yun?

Well, I went to a wedding banquet.上週末我去参加一个婚宴

How was it?

It was great. I saw many old faces. 在婚宴上，我看到许多老朋友

Did you have Chinese Food?

No. 我们不是吃中国菜We had many different types of ethnic foods. 有不同国家的饣物

I am sure it was a very joyful time.

Oh, We had a birthday party for my son.

My son turned 18.

My wife and I decorated the whole house.

We had dinner and cut the birthday cake.

New Year’s traditions in the world 世界各地新年传统   Different countries have their traditions when it comes to New Year celebrations.  不同的国家在新年时会有不同的庆祝传统 Japanese people will make rice cakes.  日本人新年时会作Mochi，一种特別的米制的甜鲇 Chinese like to do paper cutting art.  中国人则喜欢作剪纸藝术 Spanish people try to eat 12 grapes at midnight.  西班牙人会试著在午夜时吃12颗葡萄

Well, we love to watch fireworks and have parties.

                美国人喜欢看煙火，举行宴会

Of course, the country focuses on New York City where thousands of people gather.

                但是大家注意力的焦鲇，多半集中在人山人海的纽約市

There, they count down the seconds until the start of the New Year.       

                他们会在那儿倒数时间直到新年来临

And people toast each other and offer good wishes for the New Year.

H: Sure. How?

W: Let’s go out to eat on New Year’s Eve.

H: Mmm, the restaurants will be too crowded.

W: Then let’s watch the celebration on TV.

H: You mean at midnight? It’s kind of late to stay up.

W: But that’s when the New year begins. Of course we have to stay up till midnight!

H: We could tape it and watch it the next day.

W: Nobody celebrates New Years a day late!

H: Mmm, I see your point. I know! We still have a videotape of last year’s new years.

W: So?

H: We can watch it again while we eat an early dinner at home.

W: Oh, you are hopeless!

Talking about celebrations, I remember a story Jesus told.

                谈到庆祝，我们就想到圣经里耶稣所說的一个故事

A young son took his share of the family money and left home.

                一个年少的儿子拿了自己该得的家產，便离家而去

He spent all his money on wild living.

                他任意放荡，把所有钱都花光了

When this son finally became poor and desperate,

                这个儿子最后穷困潦倒，絕望得不得了

He decided to return to his father and apologize.

他決定回到父亲那里，向父亲认错

His father did not scold him, but instead hugged him.

他的父亲並沒有责罵他，反倒拥抱他

And the father received him back as a son again.

                父亲再次接纳他成为儿子

Why did the father do so?

                为什麼父亲这麼作呢？

In this story the father represents God.

                在这个故事里，父亲代表了神

And we are like the young son who leaves home.

                而我们就是那个离家的小儿子

We choose to go our own ways.

                我们选择任意独行

But no matter what we have done wrong,

但是无论我们是多麼的不好

If we turn back to God,

                我们一旦愿意回转归向神

God still welcomes us with open arms.

神仍旧张开他的膀臂欢迎我们

Jesus says, there will be rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents.

                耶稣說，一个罪人悔改，在天上将要为他欢喜快乐

That is to say, Our heavenly Father is having a big celebration when we turn back to Him.

                也就是說，当我们回转归向神，天父可要开大大的庆祝会呢
