In our last program we talked about Music.

Cheung Yun and I both love music.

                马可大哥和我都爱音乐。And we also make music. 我们也会作乐呢！

Right. What do you have in your hand, Cheung Yun?

                I brought a tambourin today. 我今天带来了铃鼓

Good. I have rhythm sticks.

Cheung Yun I only know about western instruments. How about Chinese musical instruments?

                是阿，刚才說的都是西方乐器。至於中国乐器嘛，

We have wind instruments like Di-Z, and Xiao. 管乐器我们有笛子和箫。

How about percussion instruments?

敲擊乐器嘛，We have Gongs铜锣, cymbals钹, woodendrums木鱼, etc.

And string instruments?

We have many kinds我们有多种弦乐器， ranging from 13 to 16 strings古箏 to two strings 二胡.

Two strings only ? What kind of music does it make?

Next, our two friends are talking about a concert they had just gone to.

Dialogue

 

A: What did you think about the concert?

B: I love it. I was so captivated by the music.

 It was really great, wasn’t it?

A: Well, maybe not exactly great—

B: Almost great?

A: No. I thought it was a little-

B: A little what?

A: Boring.

B: No way. How can you say that? It was great, it was moving.

 I wish it could have gone on forever.

A: It did! I thought it would never stop.

Mark, it seems to me that one of them doesn’t really like the concert.

听来其中一人很不欣赏这个音乐会。

On the other hand, the other one really loved it.

                反过来說，另一位卻是陶醉在其中。

Why don’t we help the listener to understand their different views.

                OK. 我们来了解一下他们不同的看法。

 I love it. I was so captivated by the music.

Captivate （captivate 迷人心窍，令人神昏颠倒）

 

It was really great, wasn’t it?

                真是太棒了。不是吗？

 Well, maybe not exactly great—

                依我看，不能說是太棒了。

 Almost great?

                几乎可以說太棒了？

 No. I thought it was a little-

 A little what?

                有些怎樣？

 Boring.

bored (bored厌倦的) I am bored. (我感到很无聊 )

boring (boring使人觉得厌烦无聊) The lecture was very boring. (那场演讲令 人非常厌烦。)

 

No way. How can you say that? It was great, it was moving.

                不会吧。你怎麼可以这麼說呢？它真的太棒了。太感动人了。

Move (move移动， 推动 ) moving (moving移动的， 使人感动的)

 

I wish it could have gone on forever.

                我真希望这场音乐会可以继续不断永远弹奏下去。

Go on (go on 继续，持续)

go on playing 继续弹奏下去， go on singing 继续唱下去

 

It did! I thought it would never stop.

                它的确是有完沒了的。我以为音乐会永远不会结束呢！

 

 

Grammar Snapshot 文法知多少   Musical is an adjective of music.  Musical是music的形容词。 For example, 比如說  She has no formal musical training. 她並沒有正式的音乐训练  He has quite a musical voice. 他的声音非常动听。 But, musical can also be a noun. 但是musical也是个名词 It refers to a light, amusing play or film with songs and dancing.  指的是，一个载歌载舞轻松活泼的舞台音乐剧或是电影 For example, 比如說 Sound of Music 电影”真善美”, The King and I “ 国王与我”

This psalm talks about how God should be praised.

                这篇诗篇說到该怎樣来讚美神。

With the whole orchestra including eight instruments.

                是以包括了八种乐器的管弦乐来讚美。

Brass, wind, string, percussion instruments plus dancing.

                有金属管，木管，弦乐和敲擊乐器，还加上跳舞。

And of course, our voices and our whole being.

                当然了，也以我们的歌声，我们全人来讚美。

We see God’s acts of power in creation.

                我们看到了神创造宇宙的大能，

We understand how great he is because of his redemptive work.

                我们了解了祂救赎之功的伟大，

He deserves all the praise and worship.

                祂配得我们一切的讚美和崇拜。

Of course we should praise Him with instruments, dancing and singing.

                我们当然应该以乐器，跳舞和唱诗来讚美神。
